A small operation, run from the west coast
Odyssey Travels is a family-run tour company based in Wadduwa, about an hour south of Colombo. We plan private trips around Sri Lanka and drive them ourselves.
Most people arriving in Sri Lanka book one of two things: a package that moves them between four hotels on a fixed schedule, or nothing at all, and then spend the first three days negotiating with tuk-tuk drivers.
We do the third thing. You tell us roughly what you want, we write an itinerary around it, and then we change it until it is right. Then we drive it with you.
Everything is private — your group only, your own vehicle, your own pace. If you want to spend an extra hour somewhere, you spend it. Nobody is waiting on a coach.
How we work
- One driver, the whole trip
- You are not handed between people at provincial borders. The person who meets your flight is the person who drops you back.
- We say when something is not worth it
- Some of the most-sold attractions on this island are a poor use of a day. We will tell you which, even when it makes the itinerary shorter.
- No commission stops
- We do not route you through spice gardens and gem shops that pay drivers a cut. If we stop somewhere, it is because you asked or because it is genuinely good.
- The itinerary is yours to change
- Mid-trip changes are normal. If you want to stay another night somewhere, we move the rest around rather than telling you it is booked.
Where we are
Wadduwa, on the coast road between Colombo and Kalutara — roughly an hour from Bandaranaike airport depending on traffic. It means we can meet a 2am flight without anybody having to drive through the night.
