Using this website

The content here is provided for general information. We keep it as accurate as we can, but opening hours, park closures, train timetables, ticket prices and government fees in Sri Lanka change frequently and often without notice. Nothing on this site is a substitute for checking current details with us or with the relevant authority before you travel.

The text, photographs and layout of this site belong to us or are used under licence. Please do not republish them without asking.

Prices and quotes

• Prices shown as "from" are indicative starting points in US dollars, based on two people sharing, and are not an offer.
• A price becomes firm only when we confirm it to you directly for your specific dates, group size and choice of accommodation.
• Unless we state otherwise in writing, quotes exclude international flights, visas, national park and heritage site entrance fees, meals other than breakfast, personal expenses and tips.
• Entrance fees for foreign visitors are set by Sri Lankan authorities and can change at short notice. Where a fee rises between your quote and your arrival, the difference is payable by you.

Booking, payment and cancellation

Booking terms — deposits, balance due dates, cancellation charges and refunds — are confirmed to you in writing at the time of booking, and those written terms govern your trip. Please read them before paying anything.

Changes to your itinerary

We may need to alter an itinerary because of weather, road conditions, national park closures, railway disruption, public holidays, security advice or accommodation availability. Where that happens we will offer the closest reasonable alternative and tell you as early as we can.

Wildlife and the outdoors

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Leopards, elephants, whales and dolphins are wild animals, and no operator can promise you will see one. Safari and boat excursions carry inherent risks and are operated by licensed third parties under their own terms.

Your responsibilities

• Holding a valid passport and the correct entry authorisation for Sri Lanka.
• Arranging travel insurance with adequate medical, cancellation and repatriation cover. We strongly recommend it and may require it for certain activities.
• Any vaccinations or medication your doctor advises.
• Behaving respectfully at religious sites, which includes covering shoulders and knees and removing shoes and headwear where required.

Liability

We take reasonable care in selecting the hotels, guesthouses, drivers and excursion operators we work with. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
